THURSDAY, 6pm: In blustery conditions Asfordby Amateurs Girls braved the testing elements best to claim victory.
Leics Under 12s Girls' League
ASFORDBY AMATEURS 5 MARLBOROUGH 0

Archer and Gull rebuffed early pressure, but Asfordby began to press and Reek's good run and cross found White who finished calmly in the bottom corner.

On the stroke of half-time, Reek fired a penalty just over.
Asfordby came back positively, and White was gifted a second when her shot bounced under the keeper's hands and in.

Defender Machin remained solid, while keeper McCabe's handling was good in the wet.

Gull scored with a superb long-range looping shot over the keeper before White's shot was blocked on the line and Sharpe netted the rebound.

Archer added a fantastic late goal from the halfway line.

Amateurs: R. McCabe, E. Machin (c), L. Gull, S. Archer, M. White, J. Reek, R. Wright, C. Danaher, E. Sharpe.

OADBY AND WIGSTON SNIPERS 2 ASFORDBY DIAMONDS 0

FOR the second week running, Asfordby lost out as they took on the more determined Snipers.

Diamonds were unfortunate not to score a couple with Ingall, Glendinning and Elliot all going close.

Charlotte Tait and Abbie Brown covered lots of ground in midfield as the strong winds and refereeing decisions went against Diamonds.

Abbie Geeson was solid again, marshalling defenders Abbie Roberts and Parry while still shaking off the injury she picked up the previous weekend.

Lori Hellyer replaced Abbie Roberts for the second half in a game the Diamonds never looked like winning.

Diamonds: E. Roberts, A. Geeson, A. Roberts, O. Parry, E. Glendinning, C. Tait, A. Brown, L. Hellyer, A. Elliot, C. Ingall (c).

Leics Under 12s County Cup
LUTTERWORTH TOWN 4 MELTON FOXES 0
AFTER going top last week and remaining unbeaten for almost a season-and-a-half in the league, Foxes came crashing down to earth at lowly Lutterworth.

The hosts showed their intent from kick-off and were clearly up for this fixture.

The bobbly pitch and brutal winds were a great leveller and Foxes went behind to a free kick.

From the forwards to the defence, Foxes were outmuscled and the desire wasn't there.

Newton had a long-range effort, but Lutterworth added a second before half-time.

Anderson made a terrific save, and Thurley struck the post, but Lutterworth well deserved their victory, adding another two in the second half.

Foxes: Anderson, Tyler, Read, Young, Allen, Griffin, Konarski, Newton, Rushton, Thurley, Taylor, Williamson, Fenwick, Henfrey.

Leics Under 11s County Cup Round Two
MELTON FOXES 6 BOROUGH ALLIANCE 0
FREE-scoring Melton produced their best performance of the season to defeat Borough.

Carroll's lightning pace left Borough's defence for dead as he finished calmly before adding a second soon after.

Foxes' midfielders Horobin and Wait provided quality passes to the flanks. Captain Smith was perfectly placed to finish a great move before Hamer-Robson took full advantage of the space he found to make it 4-0 at half-time.

Melton dominated the second half with Ainge denied before man-of-the-match Birkinshaw, instrumental in Foxes' attacks, scored an impressive fifth thanks to McDonald's great wing play.

Archer intercepted a goalkick to score with a crisp finish.

Foxes: O. Hourd, G. Kay, C. Pratley, C. Ainge, L. Dawson, A. Horobin, D. Wait, D. Smith (c), C. Hamer-Robson, M. Archer, J. Birkinshaw, O. McDonald, B. Carroll, B. Cotterill.

MOWBRAY RANGERS 4 THURLASTON MAGPIES 1
RANGERS marched into the third round despite encountering stiff opposition.

Cragg fired just over from Mogg's throw-in before Walker's sweeping ball found Jones who cut inside and fired a shot in off the bar.

Skerritt's thunderbolt was parried to Mayes whose effort was cleared off the line, but George Wilkinson knocked in the resulting corner for 2-0. And Walker was unlucky when his shot hit the bar.

Howard coolly slotted in a free kick after the break, while Walker's goalbound shot was saved, but Cragg swivelled and scored from the corner.

Defenders Howard, Cleworth and Ben Wilkinson performed impressively, while goalkeeper Thorn dealt well with anything that got through.
Thurlaston were rewarded with a late consolation.

Rangers: J. Thorn, S. Cleworth, J. Howard, B. Wilkinson, K. Jones, J. Mogg, A. Walker, C. Skerritt, R. Cragg (c), G. Wilkinson, H. Mayes. Subs (used): L. Hill, J. Barnard.

Leics Under 11s Division Three
ASFORDBY 2010 3 SHEPSHED 2
BOTH teams created chances, Skinner clearing off the line and man-of-the-match Louis Hurst's cross hitting the bar.

The breakthough came when the keeper misjudged Callow's long-range shot, allowing Hurst a tap-in.

Shepshed hit the bar within seconds, but Asfordby dominated up to half-time, Stokes going close and Watson's shot blocked.

Shepshed had the better of the second half chances and broke from midfield to beat goalkeeper Reed.

A copy of the opener allowed Knighley to score his first goal for Asfordby, but Shepshed equalised instantly.

Defenders Meeks, Skinner, Hurrell and Taylor worked very hard, but it was Stokes' last gasp winner which sealed Asfordby's first points of the season.

Asfordby: K. Reed, T. Watson, J. Taylor, K Skinner, L. Hurrell, K Meeks, T. Haynes, L. Callow, H Stokes, S. Knighley, H. Carter, J. Knight, J. Jarvis, L. Hurst.

Leics Under 8s League
ASFORDBY AMATEURS 4 QUORN 1
ASFORDBY continued their fine run of form with another great team performance.

Excellent football was played by both teams despite the wind and rain.
Asfordby led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Oscar Robinson's fine finish after good work from Ben Carr and Billy Hull.

The second half began at a frantic pace with only Johna Carrol's fantastic save preventing a certain goal before Quorn equalised.

Quorn pushed for a second, but Asfordby showed great character and regained the lead. Carrol's long kick found man-of-the-match Bradley Callow who played in Robinson to finish neatly.

Alfie Greaves' fine ball allowed Robinson to sidefoot his hat-trick goal.

In the final minute Greaves wriggled past the defence and was brought down, but picked himself up to dispatch the penalty into the bottom corner.

MELTON FOXES 8 KINGSWAY RANGERS 4
FOXES smashed eight with a great performance combining flowing football and determined tackling.

George Johnson-Popple's hat-trick, four goals from midfield general Ben Lumb and one from skipper Jamie Gilbertson was the least the team deserved.

Oliver Herod was superb, flitting between attack and midfield, while defenders Ben Fowkes and Patrick Sherlock battled hard, Patrick winning four tackles inside 10 seconds.

Goalkeeper Matthew Phillips kicked well with wingers Harry Trenam and Jacob Hughes working hard in attack and defence.

George's first goal, a left-foot bullet from the edge of the box, capped a superb display.

It was surpassed only by a great corner routine of passing and moving which brought another goal.

Foxes: M. Phillips, P. Sherlock, B. Fowkes, B. Lumb, O. Herod, J. Gilbertson, H. Trena
