FRIDAY, 1pm: Syston darts player Jack Hill got within one match of a dream appearance at the home of darts.
The 18-year-old, one of the youngest in the tournament, battled his way to the Central England Regional Final of the John Smith's People's Darts.

Darts legend Bobby George was on the oche at the inaugural tournament, at Willenhall Social Club, Coventry, where the prize was a £1,000 cheque for charity and a place in the John Smith's People's Darts Final.

This will take place ahead of the BDO World Darts Final in front of a capacity crowd at the famous Lakeside venue at Frimley Green on January 11 and will be televised live on the BBC.

But Jack's hopes were dashed as he was beaten 3-1 in the final by Darren Bennett, 42, from Sutton-in-Ashfield.
