Darren first Stilton Strider home at Markfield

SUNDAY, 11am: Good weather again welcomed the Stilton Striders to the Markfield 10k on Sunday.
The second league race of the season attracted a great turnout and first Strider home was Darren Glover in 37min 24secs. He was followed by John Cresswell (39.22) and Christian Davidson (39.37) who was only a second ahead of Tim Hicks.

Neil Jaggar
d clocked 41.12, while Patrick McNeight returned a time of 41.28 and Richard Gray 42 minutes dead. Completing the eight-man team was Phil Douglas (42.01).

They were supported by Gary Postle, back from illness, in 43.50, Darryl Woolward (45.20), Stuart Owen (45.35), Wayne Hackett (45.39), Mike Brightly in a personal best 45.49 and Clive Wright who started very strongly but faded to finish in 46.26.

Thomas Nickol came home in 46.32, while Ian Mason recorded a fine PB 47.15. He was chased by Striders debutant Jason Shelton with 47.50 (PB) and Sam Ellis with another PB, 48.22.

The ladies' team were led home by an injured Nicola Clay who still managed 43.43 from clubmate Vicky Lowe (46.24). Vicky is being pushed ever harder by Helen Widdowson (46.45 PB) and completing the team was Emma Gane (52.35) returning after illness and getting back to form.

Abbi Arnott clocked 52.54 from a determined Julie Jaggard (53.10) and Michelle McNeight (59.51) who always gives 100 per cent and was chosen as runner of the day.
