Only Lee Jones kept things tight from one end finishing with 6–1–18-2. Melton used seven bowlers in all as Uppingham finished with 146 for 5 from the
ir 18 overs, M. Cox unbeaten on 86.

Melton's response started slowly, losing their first wicket in the first over before Jack Moncrieff (15) and Gary Potter (10) settled things down.

By the 12th over Melton had lost five wickets and were well behind on run rate. But the introduction of Darren Elliot (25 not out) and Steve Taylor (17) put some pace back into the innings. But the stand was too late as Melton finished 43 short.
