Carp catch earns Bob Holwell reservoir win

SUNDAY, 9am: The weekend brought another freezing time for the anglers as the ice returned on the water, writes Bren Southgate.
Holwell Angling Club fished the clear sections of the reservoir on Sunday and Bob Dyer, from peg 22, took four carp to win with 17lb 12oz.

Mick West was second with two carp from peg 20 for 8lb 12oz, and Paul Clifton was third from peg four with t
wo carp and a roach for 8lb 4oz. Paul Turner had a carp of 5lb 12oz from peg 18A for fourth place.

Holwell AC fish the reservoir on Sunday, draw at 8am.

* Lakeview was ice-free for the veterans match on Wednesday.

Steve Draper (LV Select) won with 26lb 5oz from peg six on the canal, while T. Coulter (LV Select) was second with 26lb 4oz. Shaun Butler (LV Select) came third with 25lb 14oz.

* On Saturday, the veterans fished on the serpent.

The ice had returned, but Ray Redwood (LV Select) found the fish and won with 44lb 15oz taken on maggot from peg 24. E. Waterfall (LV Select) took second place with 16lb 5oz, while Ian Foulds (LV Select) was third with 7lb 2oz.

* The serpent was fished again for the Sunday match, and the ice was more difficult. Andy Hinson (Mansfield Piscatorials) won from peg three, fishing pellet and maggot for 17lb 5oz.

John Griffin (LV Select) was the runner-up with 16lb 13oz, and third place went to Lee Smith with 15lb.
