MONDAY, 12.30pm: Barkby clinched the league title to cap a superb season after winning this promotion showdown.
Grantham and Melton League Division Three
SILEBY SECOND XI v BARKBY
Barkby won by 8 wkts
With both sides challenging for the promotion spot, Sileby won the toss and batted, progressing to 55-2 off just 15 overs.
Captain Lee introduced Mark Skinner and teenager Raven to the attack and the combination of slow bowler Raven and Skinner's pace stopped the flow of runs.
Once Skinner took his first wicket, he ripped through Sileby's middle order finishing with figures of 5-22 off nine overs. Raithatha ended the Sileby innings on 105.
Barkby wasted no time in their run chase, 15-year-old Kane Skinner and 16-year-old stand-in skipper John Lee were well-supported by Keith Skinner to secure victory and add promotion to their Golding Shield victory the week before.
Allied to this, Barkby's First XI were County League Division Three champions and won two knockout cup final victories in the Salaman Cup and Burrough League Plate.
With Barkby in fine form on the pitch, the village club are in great shape off it. Next year they hope to have a new proposed pavilion in place, new state-of-the-art nets, two extra tracks and an artificial track in place.
