SATURDAY, noon: A game of two contrasting halves saw Leicester outplay Asfordby with five first half goals.
Leicester Girls' Under 13s
ASFORDBY AMATEURS ACES 2 LEICESTER CITY STARS 7
Both teams attacked with pace and after going ahead and by half-time City were 5-0 up.
Asfordby came out determined, attacking through Hannah Brewis and Charlotte Broad, while in defence player-of-the-match Nailah Master stopped several attacks.
Within 10 minutes of the restart Brewis blasted home Burton's corner and Burton fired home on the turn for 5-2. Criglington made it 6-2.
Harcourt forced a fine save and Gunn's free-kick was just wide, but in the dying minutes Criglington's penalty completed the scoring.

ASFORDBY started strongly and on 10 minutes Asfordby were ahead when Brown skipped past three defenders and smashed the ball in.
Thorpe and Bullimore made it three as Asfordby dominated midfield with man-of-the-match Elliott Harrison's superb display.
Brown's shot from the edge of the box made it four before half-time.
Rothley improved but were denied by good defending and goalkeeping. Thorpe and Brown completed their hat-tricks and a fine all-round squad performance.

HINCKLEY TOWN 2 ASFORDBY GEMS 4
GEMS struggled to find their usual passing game on a poor pitch, but battled to victory.
After a scrappy start, player-of-the-match Annie Taylor's corner crept in at the near post for 1-0. Despite a disjointed game, player-of-the-match Taylor's hat-trick ensured Gems led 3-0 at half-time.
Hinckley pulled it back to 3-2 and only good saves from Gabby Lecoyte kept Asfordby ahead. Nerves were settled as Becks Vickers scored late on to maintain Gems' unbeaten start to the season.

OADBY/WIGSTON BULLETS 8 ASFORDBY AMS DIAMONDS 2
AFTER two very good recent matches, Diamonds struggled.
Oadby began well, matched by Abbie Roberts' terrific defending, and went ahead with a shot which left Ellie Roberts stranded. A good move from Wells and Ingall saw Tait's effort blocked.
Ingall's cloe-range finish was sandwiched between three home goals as Oadby led 5-1 at half-time.
After the break, Clark challenged well, while Geeson and Ingall shot wide.
A good counter-attack gave Bullets their sixth. Geeson went up front late on and rifled home a shot from Ingall's pass, but Bullets had the last word.

MELTON FOXES 6 RIVERSIDE 2
FOXES took the points, but it was hardly convincing at times.
The scoreline could have been in double figures after a hatful of so missed chances. A cross-shot gave Foxes' Anderson no chance before Newton raced clear and squared to Griffin to equalise.
Heathcote made it two before Newton's shot hit a defender and went in. Riverside pulled one back before Foxes began to finish their chances.
Heathcote added his second on the break and Newton bagged his second with a low shot before Young's speculative long-range effort wrapped things up.

ASFORDBY LIONS 1 QUORN 3
DESPITE the scoreline, Asfordby produced a much better display.
Liam Wright shot just wide, while captain Jimmy Fuller and Declan McAuley battled well in midfield. Quorn went ahead, while Wright netted, but he was offside.
Ben Challis saved well before half-time, but from the restart Quorn went 2-0 up. Josh Leach found McAuley who shot just wide and then had an effort saved from Wiliam Monk's cross.
McAuley headed home Fuller's quality corner, but as Lions pressed, Quorn added a third.
Leach hit the woodwork as Lions piled forward and McAuley's shot was cleared off the line.

RANGERS began their home campaign with a win.
Dan Turner sent a fine strike into the top corner within five minutes before Tom Price lobbed the keeper from a tight angle. Rangers faded and defenders Ellis Cole, Joe Bent, Harvey Adams and Tommy Smith all did well. Just before half-time Price added his fifth of the season.
Rangers dominated the second half, Dan Rowe, Craig Kearney, Alex Partridge, Turner and Frank Walker on top form. Walker claimed the fourth from close range.

AMATEURS' fine 23-match unbeaten run was finally ended.
Asfordby were unlucky to fall behind to a deflected goal off Jessica Whitehead and after intense pressure, especially from Jordan Reek, Mercedes White levelled just before half-time.
After the break Shanice Archer and Laura Gull swapped places and it was all one-way traffic. Ellen Machin coped with everything and Faith Pickering and Rosanna Wright tackled ferociously.
Having done everything but score, Asfordby were stunned with a minute left when a rare attack got behind their defence for 2-1.

MELBOURNE started brightly in a tight first half before Asfordby woke up and forced a great save and goalline clearance.
Thorpe's flashing shot went close as did Nickolls before Hunt shot just wide. Tigers keeper Riddell kept it goalless at half-time.
Asfordby began well after half-time, Ingall dribbling down the right and scoring with a low shot. Riddell again denied Melbourne before a handball allowed Atherley to plant his penalty into the corner.
Man-of-the-match Riddell saved a spot-kick before the final action saw Henshaw-Cox's goalbound shot was touched in by Atherley.

KHALSA 1 MOWBRAY RANGERS BEARS 1
ON balance of play, Bears should have taken all three points.
From kick-off Mowbray were pressured and Khalsa took a deserved lead. Bears started to get on top with Shaun Smith and Charlie Skerritt creating chances and the midfield's passing better.
After half-time Bears forced Khalsa back, winning a series of corners. From one, a well-worked move involving Connor Jack saw George Wilkinson cross to Harrison Mayes whose header hit the bar, rebounding down on the goalline.
Bears finally scored when Jack's goalbound shot was nudged in by Smith with five minutes left. Bears ran out of time hunting the winner.

STONEYGATE BLUES 1 MOWBRAY RANGERS CUBS 4
CUBS opened their season with a convincing victory.
Cubs' keeper Thorn made an early save, but Walker fed Jones whose cross eventually found Cragg to score from close-range. With Barnard and Howard strong in defence and Mogg and Walker in midfield, Melton took control.
After a corner and goalmouth scramble, Cragg netted the second, but Blues scored from close range.
Second half sub Matty Riddle was soon in the action and after home pressure, Cubs broke and Walker scored a good goal. Cragg completed his hat-trick.

ANOTHER good win for Melton as man-of-the-match McGarvey struck a hat-trick.
Asfordby began well, man-of-the-match Kieran Skinner having the first shot. In an even first half Asfordby's Stokes put Tinsley through whose shot hit the keeper and rebounded onto the bar.
Melton pressed and McGarvey converted Starkey's cross. Owls' Forks played well before being injured, while Lovegrove and Kotarba kept the hosts out.
Thurley struck a second goal before half-time. McGarvey scored within minutes of the restart although Asfordby defenders Meeks and Hurrell played well.
Lovegrove's cross set up McGarvey's hat-trick before Thurley completed the scoring with a superb free-kick.

THE first half saw equal chances for both teams.
Coalville took the lead, but soon after Brown set up Danaher to level the scores at half-time. After the break, Eagles were much better as a whole team and tried very hard.
Two more goals gave Coalville the win despite a very good all-round display with Jack Bullimore the man-of-the-match.

MOWBRAY LEOPARDS 1 MARKFIELD COLTS 2
A CLOSE first half saw Michael Frew keep the score goalless at half-time with good saves.
Taylor Jordan's used his pace to track back and make some important tackles, while Max Ellis did well. Inkpen's run down the right and shot from a tight angle put Rangers ahead before William Brighty narrowly missed.
Two quick breakaway goals gave Colts the win.
MOWBRAY RANGERS JAGUARS 0 WIGSTON UTD 7
MICHAEL Orridge, Oliver Murch and Kian Nolan defended well and created problems.
Wigston finally broke through and beat Charlotte Bailey. Orridge made another great run, beating several players before he was fouled. His penalty was well saved and Nolan put the rebound wide.
Murch was superb alongside Kyle Oakes, but Wigston were in control and scored several times. Oakes, Benji Shilham and Jacob Pope worked tirelessly.
