SLIDESHOW!TUESDAY: 9.30am: An impressive £5,000 was raised at Melton Catholic Church's Christmas fair, giving the parish funds a welcome boost.
Santa Claus - who arrived in a pony trap - entertainers and stallholders attracted hundreds of people to the Working Men's Club on Saturday, helping to make the third annual event one of the most successful to date.
Organiser Frances Levett led a team of 50 volunteers, putting together a programme of events throughout the day.
She said the stage proved to be a focal point and featured singers, musicians, a grand prize draw and auction.
"Once again this great team effort was well rewarded, both financially for the parish and also in providing a truly memorable experience for many local people - families and friends, young and old alike. Sincere thanks are extended on behalf of the church to all who took part and supported the fair and we look forward to seeing you again in 2008."
