SLIDESHOW: THURSDAY 7am: TheMelton Band, under the baton of new musical director Lee Blankley, is busy rehearsing for its Christmas carol concert on Friday, December 14.
The concert, an ideal opportunity to sing carols with a brass band, has become something of a Melton institution.

This year, however, there is a change of venue as its popularity has seen the event outgrow Gloucester House. Next Friday's concert will be held at Sage Cross Church at 7.30pm.

Lee, from Wigston, played in a number of championship bands before becoming a conductor and has chosen several numbers to demonstrate the band's considerable musical ability. The Junior Band, with children from as young as nine, will also be performing a selection of Christmas numbers.

Tickets cost £3.50, to include mince pies and refreshments, available on the door or to guarantee entry you can reserve your tickets in advance by calling Gina Green on (01664) 851482.
