The town'a links with Poland strengthened with the twinning of Sochaczew in the early 1990s.
The move came about due to both towns having links with retailer Masterfoods, and the scheme has proved beneficial for both towns.
The town of Sochaczew is 45 kilometres west of Warsaw and is famous for its railway history
Melton Twinning Association chairman David Morris, said: "It made sense for the places to twin given what we have in common.
"The move has allowed us to develop cultural links and has also allowed us to build friendships and support each other."
There have been numerous exchange visits over the years, involving schools, councils and social groups.
And Melton town centre assistant Daniela Miernik is the daughter of Sochaczew's mayor, and town leaders have visited each other over the last five years.
And 50 residents of Sochaczew will come to Melton on May 6.
