Six local bobbies are swapping the beat in Melton for a look at Polish policing as part of a cultural exchange.
Prompted by the area's growing Polish population, the group are flying out to Melton's twin town of Sochaczew for four days to build relations and share ideas.

Pc Spike Yeoman, who organised the visit, said: "As more Polish people move into Melton we wanted to do what we could to build community relations.

"We thought a trip to meet officers from our twin town would be a perfect way of getting to know more about the Polish culture and how the police over there engage with their communities.

"We hope what we learn over there will help us improve our understanding of the needs of the polish community here."

Also going are Pcs Alan Summers, Gary Jackson, Tony Cotterill, Chris Millward and Michael Young, with the team borrowing warm police clothing from firearms colleagues to guard against the cold weather.

In their luggage for the February 18 trip will be community newsletters translated into Polish and police memorabilia including hats and badges to be presented to Polish colleagues.
