The organisers of Melton’s Country Fair - one of the highlights in town’s event calendar - are urging local businesses, groups and people to get involved and help them to grow the popular annual attraction.
This year’s event will be held in the Town Estate parks on Sunday, June 28, 10am to 5pm, and will include arena entertainment, a dog show, live bands, dancing, real ale, local food, arts and crafts and demonstrations.
Sally Hooper, of event organisers Leicestershire Food Links, said: “There are so many wonderful things going on in the Melton area which can be showcased at the country fair to benefit all. Melton is a historic market town in the middle of great farming land and this year we’d like to work with even more local people.
“We’re especially interested in expanding our livestock and countryside displays as well as encouraging mums, dads and children to have a go and enter our new crafts and produce competitions.”
“One of the aims of the country fair is to provide a ‘full day of countryside fun for the family’. It currently does this with the help and generous support of businesses, organisations, groups and individuals in and around Melton, with any profits fed back to the local community or used to promote local food in Leicestershire.”
About 8,000 people attended last year’s Melton Country Fair, with proceeds going to local charities and good causes including the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
