Detectives investigating a fatal collision on the A606 are hoping to trace the occupants of a small silver car, possibly a Mini.

Scalford man Simon Allen (54) died after the black Ford Fiesta Zetec he was driving was involved in a collision with a silver Peugeot 407 on the A606 Nottingham Road between Ab Kettleby and Nether Broughton.

The collision happened at about 12.15pm on Saturday (March 14) - about 1.7 miles away from the junction with Clawson Lane.

Mr Allen, who lived his entire life in Scalford and was a familiar face in the village, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Peugeot 407 contained a man and a woman who were taken to hospital and have since been discharged.

Detective Constable Pete Davies, who is investigating the collision, said: “The Ford Fiesta was travelling towards Melton and the Peugeot was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

“The occupants of the small silver car, which was travelling directly in front of the Peugeot at the time of the collision, may be able to offer valuable information to help with the investigation. If you were the occupants of this car or if anyone thinks they might know who they are then please get in touch.

“If you saw the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand then we need to speak to you. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should call Leicestershire Police on 101.
