A Melton teenager has died after falling from the Dalby Road railway bridge on Saturday morning (May 30).

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said it was still investigating but currently isn’t treating the death as suspicious.

He said: “We were called to Dalby Road bridge, close to Melton Station, at 8.42am following a sighting of body by the line.

“Officers from BTP and Leicestershire Police attended the scene, alongside colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“The body of an 18-year-old man, from Melton, was found with injuries consistent with falling from the bridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, which is currently not being treated as suspicious.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner. The man’s family has been informed.”
