I was walking my dog along Victoria Street this evening and, as has happened many times before, was passed by a little hatchback car driven at a ridiculous speed.
When I made the ‘slowdown’ signal with my arm I was met with a torrent of abuse from the driver.
I’d like to say to that driver, and all the other drivers who speed along roads like Victoria Street, that a couple of months ago I witnessed a little girl being hit by a car outside our house. She was airlifted to hospital and luckily survived the incident.
If you speed then eventually you will be involved in an incident like the one I witnessed and you may end up killing or injuring another person or yourself.
My attempt to get that speeding driver to slow down was really an attempt to stop him ruining his own life and/or someone else’s and didn’t deserve the abuse that I received.
