Melton’s Lidl store on Scalford Road is seeking to extend its car park following customer feedback.
A planning application has been submitted to Melton Council to increase the number of parking spaces from 76 to 104, plus one additional disabled space.
A customer travel survey was carried out by Lidl in October. Of the 76 respondents, 81 per cent said they travelled to the Melton store by car.
A Lidl spokesman said: “Our store in Melton has proven extremely popular since it opened, however we have had feedback from customers that it’s often difficult to find a space. In order to alleviate this problem, we have submitted an application to extend the car park.
“We take our travel plan very seriously, while also being aware that cars are the main mode of transport for customers who are doing their main weekly shop and so we want to accommodate their needs as well as promoting other forms of sustainable transport.”
The application will be decided in due course.
