A man is being treated in hospital after being cut free from the wreckage of a road accident at Queniborough this afternoon (Monday).

Two vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened on Barkby Road at 12.52pm, and one ended up with its wheels straddling a ditch.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A male casualty has now been transferred to Leicester Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

“All other casualties have been cleared to leave the scene by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS).”

Crews from Birstall and the Eastern Fire Station attended the scene and cutting equipment was used to extricate a male casualty suffering from back pain, the spokesperson added.
