Man taken to hospital after collision involving a bus and a car

Emergency services were called out following a road collision involving a bus and a car at Barkby on Friday morning.

A man in the car was treated at the scene by a crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service before being taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

A second male casualty in the vehicle was also treated by ambulance staff after the incident, which happened on Queniborough Road about 7.21am.

Firefighters from Birstall arrived in a single appliance to make both vehicles safe but neither of the casualties needed to be released from the car.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said: “The bus driver was released following assessment by an ambulance crew.

“Traffic police carried out a crash scene investigation.”
