Melton people will get a rare chance to see a steam train chugging into the town station once again on Saturday when the iconic Flying Scotsman stops off on a special journey.

The train sets off from London King’s Cross at 6.35am and is due in Melton to pick up passengers at around 10.45am.

The route will take in mainly the East Coast main line but will also include some unusual track lines.

The Flying Scotsman will also stop at Oakham station.

We would be delighted to receive photographs from readers who snap the steam train as it arrives at and leaves Melton.

Please email these to nick.rennie@jpress.co.uk and we will print the best ones in next week’s Melton Times.
