A revamped roundabout in Syston town centre is to have another £10,000 spent on it for the benefit of confused drivers.

Leicestershire County Council had previously made changes at the Melton Road/High Street/Barkby Road junction as part of a £55,000 scheme aimed at improving safety. The work was completed in June.

But following complaints from members of the public and Syston Town Council, County Hall is now set to make further alterations to the roundabout.

A county council spokesman said: “We have agreed to tweak the roundabout scheme, following our own observations and feedback from the public and the town council.

“We are spending £10,000 to install guidance signs on the approach to the roundabout and are raising the roundabout dome, to help ensure motorists drive around and not over it. We hope to complete the work by the end of the month.”
