Eastwell History Group is holding a 50/50 auction of goods to raise funds for a train conservation project.

Half of the sale price of auction items will go to the seller, with the other half going to the group for use in its conservation of ‘Lord Granby’ - one of the two remaining locomotives which worked in the once thriving iron ore industry on the outskirts of the Vale Of Belvoir .

A group spokesman said: “A great deal of work has gone in so far but there’s still a good deal to do and we need funds.

“We can accept most things for the auction but cannot accept uncertificated electrical goods, mattresses, underwear or nightwear.”

The auction will be held in Eastwell Village Hall on July 23, starting at 1pm. Auction items will be received from noon until 8pm on July 22.
