The Melton Band finished a very respectable 17th place on debut at the National Brass Band Championships on Sunday.

The band competed against 19 of the best third section bands in the country at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Kirsty Ruddle, web, social media and press for The Melton Band, said: “A big thank you must go out to all of our supporters and those who donated at our fundraising events that helped us to achieve our goal.”

The band will be returning home to Melton Theatre on Saturday for their annual joint concert with Foresters Brass 2000.

This year’s concert “Quality Brass” will be raising money for Alzheimer’s, and will feature a wide variety of music from 7.30pm.

Tickets for the concert are £8 and available at the theatre box office on (01664) 851111.
