A volunteer community co-ordinator for children’s charity Save the Children has received an award from The Princess Royal for outstanding voluntary contribution.

Nicki Dalton is community co-ordinator for the charity’s Loughborough and the Wolds branch which extends its activities to Melton and Oakham.

Nicki, of Rempstone, has volunteered with Save the Children for 35 years in a varied range of roles that include fundraising and developing awareness of the charity which carries out work in more than 120 countries as the world’s largest independent children’s charity.

Nicki said: “I have been privileged to meet Her Royal Highness on a number of occasions during my work with Save the Children but I was thrilled to receive this award from her. She is such an inspirational president of Save the Children and is so well versed in everything we do.”
