Melton’s Jobcentre Plus has moved from its Scalford Road premises to Melton Council’s Parkside offices.
The move has been made to better support job-hunters by offering them a ‘one stop shop’ of services all delivered in the same place.
Rutland and Melton MP Alan Duncan said: “The move has allowed the council and Jobcentre Plus to work closer together which should result in an improved service for people using them.”
Christine Marshall, strategic director at Melton Council, said: “We are now able to offer a more complete support package to people as everything is now under one roof, as well as pick up on any additional needs people may have when they visit the Jobcentre - and deal with them more quickly.
“For example, if anybody comes to the Jobcentre with debt problems or is lacking in skills, staff can now quickly and easily pass them onto someone who can help, whether that be Citizen’s Advice Bureau, also based within the building, or the council’s own housing officers.”
