The Melton Band has just completed its summer programme of bandstand concerts and would welcome new members to take part when contesting and when Christmas carols become the main activity.

The band particularly requires a principal and second trombonists as well as two cornet players which would mean a full complement of 25 players.

Band member Clive Baker said: “Our instrument stock is good thanks mainly to our sponsor, the Melton Mowbray Building Society, who have recently provided us with brand new uniforms. We are indebted to them but there are still a few opportunities for new players.

“If you have played in a band, no matter how long ago, or are a lonely trombonist practising on your own, the band would like to hear from you.”

Meetings take place at Sage Cross Methodist Church at 7.30pm on Thursdays. There is also a junior band which meets at 6.30pm.
