A campaign aiming to get more older people involved in physical activity and sport launches in Melton later this month.

A programme of events has been organised between September 28 and October 4 for ‘Feel Alive from 65’.

Many of the activities, which range from exercise classes and badminton sessions to yoga and walking football, are free or offered at a subsidised price.

Emma Geary, physical activity and development officer for Melton Council, which is promoting the initiative, said: “This campaign is designed to celebrate and encourage being active as we get older.

“Within Melton there will be 24 sessions made free or at a discounted price for people to get involved in on their own doorstep.”
