The new premises of Melton Crèche Services has been officially opened by Melton MP the Rt Hon Sir Alan Duncan.
The building on North Street, behind the Premier Inn hotel, was needed to cater for extra demand following the Government’s pledge to offer parents 30 hours free childcare a week.
Melton Crèche Services originally aimed to provide childcare for children of young mums working in the care system, allowing them to return to work and providing greater continuity of care for the older people they look after.
But the crèche is now expanding commercially to open to other children from the area to cope with the additional demand anticipated.
During his recent visit Sir Alan said: “I was very impressed by the facilities and staff here.
“Their original focus on providing for the children of carers is a vital lifeline allowing people to get back into work and provide continuity of care themselves.
“I am sure the crèche will continue to thrive now that they are expanding still futher.”
