Melton Times letter: Vote for centre to receive funds

The Melton Mowbray Child Contact Centre provides a safe place for children from six months up to 18-years-old to meet their non resident parent and spend time getting to know them in a warm friendly location with volunteers on hand to support this contact.

We operate for 50 weeks of the year on Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm, either for weekly, fortnightly, monthly or simply a one off session, what ever the parents can agree between themselves will be best suited to their child.

All of our sessions are supported by 28 volunteers, working in teams of four, who are willing give up two hours of their time roughly every six weeks.

Our overheads are considerable with our largest outlay being for room hire, insurance and telephone costs.

Our Child Contact Centre is funded by the generosity of the local churches and community and we are

very grateful for their generosity.

We have applied to the Aviva Community Fund for £1,000 to help with our running costs. However, in order for us to be successful, we need the help of the Melton Times readers. By following this link https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-660 you will have the opportunity to use up to 10 votes and enable us to collect enough votes to be able to qualify for the award.

Please help us to continue to provide this needed service in Melton. We have been in existence for 17 years and that is only because of the generosity of the local churches and community.
