Have your say

Sincere thanks to everyone who attended Gillian Sharp’s funeral service at Melton’s St Mary’s Church, where an especially large and moving congregation turned out to pay their respects.

I’m sure that Gill’s life-long community spirit, hard work and friendship to so many people and causes in and around Melton went some way to explaining the extraordinary number of mourners.

The complete list of Gill’s involvements and commitments is too long to write here but those in the know will recognise her efforts at Thorpe Arnold Village Hall, Melton and Belvoir Inner Wheel, Thorpe Village Hall New Age Kurling, Melton Tax Office, Melton College, and of course St Mary the Virgin Church, Thorpe Arnold.

So it was no great surprise that so many turned out but, at the same time, it was still moving to see quite so many people in attendance.

As a tribute to Gill, donations collected amounted to £1,320 which will support Cancer Research UK and Christian Aid.

Gill’s family and extended family, now stretched across continents, will all miss her love, warmth and spirit.
