Melton Times letter: Guinea Pig Club Memorial Fund

I should like to thank everyone who helped me with the organisation of the Bridge Drive, which was held in Burton Lazars Village Hall on the afternoon of October 4.

The people who came not only enjoyed an afternoon of bridge, but also a delicious afternoon tea. Tesco kindly supplied the bread and fillings for the sandwiches, which was a tremendous help.

There was a raffle and a mini auction, and the whole event raised the magnificent sum of £768 for the Guinea Pig Club Memorial Fund.

This was the final fundraising event before the commemorative tribute to the club is unveiled and dedicated in the National Memorial Arboretum on Wednesday, November 2, at 2pm.

The fund now stands at just over £20k and many local people have helped to raise this. Sandy and I cannot thank you all enough.

You have helped to make Sandy’s vision become a reality.
