A hospice which cares for children and young people from Leicestershire is delighted to announce it has bagged £12,000 from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

The supermarket teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative, which saw grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 - all raised from the 5p bag levy - being award to environmental and green space projects.

Shoppers in the county cast their votes at stores including Melton’s Tesco superstore, in Thorpe Road and Tesco Express in Nottingham Road and Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People came out on top with an award for £12,000.

The funding will be used to transform the approach to the hospice, in Loughborough. The charity plans to create a new pathway, landscape the driveway and put in wooden planters and new signage, as well as improving the CCTV, to make the hospice more welcoming and secure for families.
