Hundreds of people attended Melton’s Festival of Cribs which raised more than £1,500 for the Sage Cross Church Development Fund.

The popular festive event, which ran over the weekend of December 5 and 6 in Sage Cross Methodist Church, saw over 120 nativity cribs on display.

Cribs came from all over the world made in many different shapes, sizes and materials were viewed by people from different regions and counties as well as the town’s residents.

Margaret Phillips, one of the organisers, said: “The festival was excellent and had a constant stream of people attend over both days.

“There was a great range of cribs on show including some made from banana leaves and recycled magazines.

“Hot food was on offer and a turkey lunch was served on the Sunday.

“Without a doubt we had more people than last year and we raised £1,550. We’re really pleased with this amount as once again lots of hard work went into the organisation.”
