A group of knitters from Melton’s Machine Knitting Club have won a national competition for the second year running, organised by the Guild of Machine Knitters.

The team of seven won the Sherborne Vase for their lighthouse scene which took three months to complete. Their entry had to be 90% machine knitted, fit into a boot box and take up no more than 24 square when displayed.

Melton Machine Knitting Club is also celebrating its 30th year in September, when the club restarts after a summer break.

Members meet at Bradgate Flats, Asfordby on alternate Thursday evenings, at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome.
