Excited Melton Air Cadets arrived at Swynnerton Training Camp and Training Area for a very special experience.

Air Cadets from the 1279 Melton Mowbray Squadron, spent a week learning different skills that will help them with their training and development.

The cadets took part in team building exercises that helped them understand the value of team and everyone practised their drill and leadership skills.

All were able to try shooting, mountain biking and paintballing before having the opportunity to shoot with the L98A2 gun.

Cadet Samuel Page (14) said: “It was the best week of my life! So many opportunities and achievements were made. I would recommend this week to anyone.”

The week finished with a final parade and the results of which teams had won which events were announced.

Anyone who is interested in seeing the wide range of activities on offer can visit the 1279 Melton Mowbray Squadron on their open evenings on the final Thursday night of the month from 7pm at the Cadet Centre, Asfordby Road.
