The appearance of Santa touring the streets of Melton this Christmas is in doubt due to a serious transport problem.

Members of Melton Belvoir Rotary Club are concerned that the sleigh that has carried him around Melton for the past 18 years may not be available due to the need to find alternative storage leading up to Christmas.

The building they currently have access to is being leased to new owners and they urgently need to find a new home for Santa’s sleigh.

For most of the year the sleigh is stored in a secure, dry covered area about the size of a large car. Then from roughly three weeks before Christmas a bigger area is needed to assemble the sleigh and store it close to the town centre due to the need to get to the various evening routes quickly and safely.

Over the last 18 years the club and Santa have raised an incredible £80,000 for charitable causes and it is hoped to continue this for many more years.

If anyone has any ideas for suitable premises please contact rotary members or see the website www.rotarymelbel.org or Facebook page (Melton Belvoir Rotary) for contact details.
