Man suffers head injuries in 80ft fall down embankment south of Melton

A man suffered head injuries in an 80ft fall from down an embankment from a viaduct south of Melton this morning (Saturday).

Emergency services were called to Ingarsby Close in Houghton on the Hill, not long after midnight.

Firefighters used a rope pully system to lift the injured man and he was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital just before 1.45am.

Two Leicestershire Fire and Rescue crews and a technical rescue crew were in attendance with the ambulance service.
