Barbara Taylor, of Devon Farm, Bottesford, has retired as clerk to Woolsthorpe by Belvoir Parish Council, ending a long association with the village.

Her place has been taken by Emma Wilson, who paid tribute to Mrs Taylor, a former parish clerk to Bottesford Parish Council too.

Mrs Wilson said her predecessor’s close association with Woolsthorpe dated back to her aunt and her family living there and she visited regularly.

She recalled going to dances in the old village hall which was then where the children’s play area is now sited.

In addition she worked for Dr Wallace in the village surgery for many years as his receptionist.

“No matter what the weather, it had to be really bad to stop Barbara travelling from Bottesford and you could count the amount of times a meeting was postponed on one hand,” she said.

“Her diligence and attention to detail were always first class and she will be remembered fondly by all the parish councillors who worked with her.”

On Monday, July 11, the Woolsthorpe parish councillors, district councillor Pamela Bosworth, leader of South Kesteven District Council and county councillor Bob Adams and ex-deputy leader of the district council Paul Carpenter got together at Woolsthorpe Social Club to present Mrs Taylor with a garden seat in appreciation of her long and committed service.
