Three trapped in vehicles after serious crash near Melton Mowbray

Three people had to be rescued from their vehicles by firefighters after a serious collision this morning.

Fire crews from Melton Mowbray, Birstall and Oakham attended the scene of incident, in Six Hills Lane, Old Dalby, near Melton Mowbray, which occured just before 9am this morning.

On arrival they found three people were trapped following a collision between a car and a van.

Police and ambulance personnel were also in attendance. An air ambulance landed at the scene at around 9.30am.

Two casualties were taken to hospital by road at around 10am.

The B676 is currently closed at the junction for Old Dalby and Wartnaby. Diversions are in place.
