A total of 96 cast members (aged 4-15) performed across four shows to crowds of over 1,200.

Academy director Suzanne Forrester said: “The musical was a huge success. Performing Stars always manages to put young children on stage, no matter of experience or ability.

“The standard which the children achieve for their age is outstanding and the school clearly showcases the students best abilities.

“The highlight of the show has to be when Sharpay got a pie in the face at the end of act one. The audition scene in the show was also a moment which had the audience giggling.”

The Performing Stars Academy has selected a cast of 30 (aged 14-21), from around the county, including Melton, which is putting on six performances of Phantom of the Opera in the autumn.

The first Melton Theatre show will start on Tuesday, September 13 with the last two on Saturday, September 17.

Ticket prices vary from £13 to £19 (plus a £1 booking fee), and are available from the box office on (01664) 851111.
