Sainsbury's Melton store to offer support to charity under help scheme

A charity could receive a year's backing from a major retailer under a community help scheme.

Sainsbury’s in Melton, is looking for a new charity to support from the area as part of its Local Charity of the Year scheme.

The winning charity will receive year-long support from the supermarket, which includes fundraising and raising awareness of the work it does. The scheme has raised over £7 million over the last six years and helped thousands of charities across the UK.

Store manager Paul Spence said they were keen to hear from charities they had not supported in the past, and added: “We know there are so many great charities in the local area and we’re really excited about providing a boost to one of these over the next year.”

The supermarket will put together a shortlist of potential charities over the next few weeks and customers will vote for their favourites between June 15-28 in stores and online.

To apply, register your interest at the customer service desk or kiosk at Sainsbury’s Nottingham Road. Nominations close on May 31.
