RAFA events mark 1966 squadron adoption
The event at their Asfordby Road headquarters on Saturday raised £500 for the organisation’s Wings Appeal, which supports serving and ex-RAF personnel and their families.
Hundreds of visitors were able to enjoy various attractions including stalls, lucky dips, children’s games and displays.

Hide AdThere was a barbecue, face painting and a recruitment stand. Cadets from the 1279 Melton Mowbray Squadron ATC also held a stall to raise club funds.
Brenda Cox, vice chair of the Melton branch of RAFA, said: “The weather was very hot and we had a lovely afternoon.
“As part of the celebrations there was a table football tournament and a special plaque presentation was arranged to commemorate the adoption.”
Dignitaries who attend included Melton Mayor Jeanne Douglas, Senior Townwarden Dinah Hickling, 1279 Squadron ATC Padre John Hewer, President of the Melton branch of RAFA Harold Jarvis and secretary Brian Fare and his wife Amanda.
