Melton mum-of-two to have head shaved in support of friend and cancer charity in '˜boiled egg challenge'

A brave mum-of-two has already had a cracking response to a charity challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support which will leave her looking like a boiled egg - but she's hoping even more Melton people chuck in.

Kerry Clarkson (42) will be having her head shaved at The Boat Inn pub in Melton next month in support of her friend, Sue Prime, who is battling breast cancer.

Also losing their locks in the ‘boiled egg challenge’ at The Boat on March 19 (4pm) will be Kerry’s friends, Ian Wilson and Andy Brown, who are from Peterborough.

Kerry, who lives on Chetwynd Drive, said: “A few months ago Sue announced she had breast cancer and how she was preparing to fight it. I wanted her to know we were with her and thinking of her.

“So when she said she was going to be starting chemotherapy, this was a way we could show our support and at the same time, hopefully, make some money for the people who nursed her dad in the final stages of his battle with cancer.

“Having my head shaved is a bit scary but my hair will grow back and if it puts a smile on Sue’s face for a day and raises money for Macmillan in the process then it’s all worth it.”

She added: “We’re going to be doing it at The Boat, a great little pub with fantastic staff and beer, where we all meet up whenever we get the chance. Come along and support us but,. if you can, please chuck a quid in. Macmillan do a great job. Show them and my friend, Sue, some love, while she kicks cancer’s backside.”

The Boat is also holding a big raffle in support of the trio’s fundraising efforts.
