The festival also included a free flower and fizz workshop and a cheese and wine evening which were well attended by adults and children alike.

Sue Reeves-Jones, chair of Somerby Parochial Church Council, said: “The festival was well supported by visitors from near and far and the afternoon teas which were served on Sunday and Monday were enjoyed by many.

“Thanks to a number of grants and generous private donations we have finally reached our financial target which will enable us to start much needed work on our nave roof and drainage.

“Once this has been completed we will concentrate our fundraising efforts on raising money to enable us to install mains water so we can have some kitchen facilities and a toilet, thereby allowing us to open the church up for wider use within the community.”

Sponsorship for flower arrangements was received from Gates Nurseries and Garden Centre, Burrough Court, Mad Dogs and Englishmen Photography and The Stimson family.
