Jobless total falls again

The number of people out of work and claiming jobseeker’s allowance in Leicestershire has fallen to its lowest level in almost five years.

The claimant count dropped by 453 - 2.7 per cent - to 16,059 last month. It means the figure has declined by almost a quarter in the past 12 months.

The last time the figure was that low was in 2009.
