Free royal-themed children's activities and beacon lighting at Melton Country Park to mark the Queen's 90th birthday

A free fun-packed event is taking place at the Melton Country Park Visitor Centre on Thursday (April 21) to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

Activities taking place from 5.30pm will include a royal-themed children’s fancy dress competition (kings, queens & princesses) with judging at 6.30pm by the Mayor of Melton councillor Jeanne Douglas.

There will also be crown and flag-making workshops, a treasure hunt, children’s face painter and a plant a flower for the Queen celebration. Refreshments will also be available.

The mayor and the Melton Division Guides will be lighting beacons to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday at 7.30pm.

There is parking for a maximum of 30 cars at the visitor centre car park. Overspill parking can be found on Willow Drive, off Redwood Avenue. Town centre car parks on Scalford Road, Chapel Street and St Mary’s Way are all within a 15 minute walk of the centre.
