A handful of volunteers alongside library staff in Syston invited customers to join them for a coffee morning to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
Tea, coffee and cakes were served and an impressive £90 was raised for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
During October Syston Library has also been promoting their book collections that aim to support mental wellbeing in the community.
There has been a selection of ‘mood-boosting’ books including novels, poetry, fiction and uplifting scriptures as well as ‘books on prescription’ that have been recommended by experts.
Libraries are free to join and free to use. All the county’s libraries have a good range of health resources and information now available to the public.
