A plaque has been unveiled at Melton’s Waterfield Leisure Centre marking a man’s 50 years of commitment to Melton Council and to his role as client officer for the centre.

The Dalby Road leisure centre’s health suite is now called the Robert Child Health Suite - named after long-serving Robert Child.

As previously reported in the Melton Times Robert was presented with a long service award by the council in September to mark his long-standing commitment to the authority.

Senior accountant Robert started working at the council in 1965 when he was just 16-years-old. The council was known then as Melton and Belvoir Rural District Council and was based in Warwick Lodge.
