There were plenty of muddy clothes and trainers on show as nearly 300 runners tackled this year’s Queniborough Fun Run.
Runners of all ages braved the cold and windy weather and despite a lack of rain before the race the water crossings still posed a chilly prospect.
Three races took place over a lap of the course - for children from pre-school age to Year 6 - and two more races over two laps for secondary school age and adults.
All finishers received a medal, trophies were presented to age category winners and team awards were also handed out. Primary school team prizes were won by Queniborough, Asfordby and Hallbrook, with Wreake Valley Academy scooping the secondary school prize.
The organisers would like to thank family and friends for their help in staging Saturday’s race, Mr Winterton who again allowed use of his land and race sponsors Stapletons Ltd, Merriman Ltd and Danaher & Walsh. Thanks also go to the Friends of Queniborough School who provided refreshments.
It's hoped the fun run proceeds will be at least £800 which will be donated to Loros.
l The last race in the fun run mini series - the Frisby Fun Run - takes place on Saturday, April 18. Entries are already pouring in for the annual event which will feature five races for different age ranges. Individual age group trophies, from pre-school to veteran 50s, will be awarded along with family and school team prizes. All finishers will receive a medal.
Fun run entries must be submitted in advance. For more details visit https://frisbyfunrun.wordpress.com/
