Melton Community Hospital needs three new full-time nurses and staff have produced a short promotional video as part of a recruitment campaign.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is also holding a special open day for nursing professionals interested in taking up posts at the Thorpe Road facility, on Saturday, November 7, from 9am to noon.

A spokesperson for LPT said: “It’s just one of those things - a couple of people have moved on at the same time and it has left us short of nurses.

“We are hoping to recruit three full-timers and a part-timer, although we could take on five or six nurses if they only want to work part-time hours.”

Staff on the hospital’s Dalgleish Ward have created the film, which gives a five-minute view of what the ward is like, the kind of patients it deals with and what it is like to work there.

Ward manager Lisa Farmer said: “We are in this lovely, spacious, clean environment which is good for working in, but there is also privacy and dignity with lots of side rooms.

“It is light, airy, organised and calm, and above all safe.”

The ward is less than 10-years-old and has 16 beds providing medical nursing, palliative care nursing, and end of life care.

Ms Farmer added: “We are looking for nurses that fancy a change, and would like to experience something different.

“If they want to upskill their clinical skills we can help them with that with in-house training.”
