Summer isn’t over but grit is already being delivered in Leicestershire in preparation for winter.

About 11,000 tonnes of salt is being delivered from supplier Compass Minerals to replenish the county council’s grit barns, bringing the total stock to more than 18,000 tonnes. Around 1,647 tonnes has been delivered to the council’s grit barn in Melton, with more landing in other county sites over the next month.
